On April 20, 2017, the CDC released the online report General Best Practice Guidelines for Immunization. This new report is intended to replace the 2011 document titled ‘General Recommendations on Immunization’.

This report contains critical information to assist healthcare practitioners in the United States in administering vaccines to diverse patients in the most effective way possible. This includes when patients should receive vaccinations, how many doses, what precautions need to be taken, and how to respond to adverse reactions. It also provides information about vaccine benefits and risks which can help healthcare practitioners address patient concerns that may stem from the growing body of conflicting information about immunization.
